Session Information
Description: Middle English literature, both early and late, has much to teach us about the role affect plays in the making and reception of texts, the construction of identities, and the unfolding of social and spiritual practices. Using texts by (among others) Chaucer, Hoccleve, and Lydgate, this session explores what affect brings to the study of Middle English as well as what Middle English brings to the study of affect.
