Session Information

Description: How can we talk about race, racial formations, and processes of racialization in the early modern period? How does Renaissance humanism’s invocation of man, as the universal human, intersect with the parallel social, political, and economic modes of distinguishing among various communities? Evaluating racialization as a framework for defining the notion of human in the early modern period, panelists debate challenges and future directions.
