Session Information
Description: In early modern studies, Anglo-Arab engagements have traditionally been understood in terms of binary opposites. In the past two decades, criticism has moved beyond binaries to explore the complexity of European-Arab and European-Islamic relations. Panelists highlight approaches that decenter familiar early modern English perspectives in favor of reimagining what it meant to be human in the early modern period and how those encounters still resonate today.
