Session Information

Description: Using the Being Human festival to provide case studies, this workshop presents practical examples of what in the United Kingdom would be considered best-practice public engagement. The workshop provides hands-on activities that address intellectual, ethical, pedagogical, and practical questions around conducting public engagement, including brainstorming an exemplar public engagement activity, discussing how to build relationships with community and cultural partners, asking what constitutes a “successful” public engagement event, and exploring engagement as a mutually beneficial two-way process that can inform not only audiences but researchers as well.
