Adjunct professor of English and high school English teacher. Winner of the Princeton University Distinguished Secondary Teaching Award and the ELATE James Moffett Memorial Award for classroom research. Chairperson of the NCTE Achievement Awards in Writing Advisory Committee and member of the English Journal Editorial Board. I teach Methods of Teaching Secondary English to both graduate and undergraduate students and for 30 years have taught high school English, including AP Literature & Composition, AP Language & Composition, and Creative Writing. During the first half of the 2019-2010 school year, I have had a sabbatical from my high school job to focus on studying and writing about ways of reframing the teaching of literature and writing, including through use of an inquiry and action curricular framework.
